Leonard Arick immigrated on 23 Sep 1773 from Germany to Philadelphia, PA. He came aboard the ship "Union" which sailed from Rotterdam, Netherlands. The Captain was Andrew Bryson.

Leonard first married Margaret (b.1755, d.1786) about 1773. They had 5 children they named: Christian, George, Anna Catherine, Lenina and Jacob.

A record of indenture for "John Leonard Erich" and Margaret, his wife, dated 30 Sep 1773, (Philadelphia, PA Indentures) says that they were "bound out" to work for a term of 2 years and 1 month each as servants of Henry Weaver of Carnarvan Twp., Lancaster Co., PA.

The agreement was probably made to pay Mr. Weaver back the money for their passage: 21 pounds & 19 shillings each.

Leonard served his new country in the military in 1777 in Lancaster Co., PA in the 10th Battalion 4th Company 7th Class.

After his first wife's (Margaret) death in 1786 Leonard married a second time to Barbary (b.1754, d.1846) about 1787 in Strabane, Washington Co., PA. They had 4 children they named: Leonard Jr., Michael. Eva Maria and Peter.

The census reports from 1790 to 1820 show him as a farmer living in Strabane. In 1793, tax records show him with 95 acres, 20 cleared 2 horses, 2 cows, 1 house, 1 cabin.

Leonard's children used both Arick and Erick as their sir name. He is buried in a Strabane Cemetery, but which one is not clear at this time.
