MARLIN QUAST

Marlin Quast, age 76, of 1001 N. 49th St., Sheboygan, and formerly of the town of Meeme, Manitowoc County, died Tuesday, March 30, 2004 at St. Nicholas Hospital.

He was born Aug. 30, 1927 in Shbeoygan, a son of the late Herbert and Viola (Radke) Quast. Marlin graduated from New Holstein High School in 1945, later serving in the U.S. Navy. Elreta Amel and Marlin Quast were married on Sept. 15, 1948. The couple celebrated 55 years of marriage in 2003. Marlin was employed at the Kohler Company over 43 years, retiring as an inspector in Quality Control in 1993. He was a member of St. James United Church of Christ in Spring Valley where he had served on the consistory. Marlin was also a member of the Kohler Quarter Century club.

An avid outdoorsman, Marlin enjoyed hunting, fishing and cmaping with his family. He was also an armchair quarterback for the Green Bay Packers.
Surviving Marlin is his loving wife: Elreta; two sons: Herbert (Mari) Quast of Sheboygan and Jeff (Linda) Quast of rural Kiel; four daughters: Pamela (David) Balzer of Sheboygan; Janet (James) Roe of Park Falls; Lisa (Mark) Koenig of Cleveland; Amy (Karl) Christianson of New Holstein. Also surviving are 18 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one sister: Diane (Eugene) Hanson of Sheboygan; a half sister: Nancy Stafford of Ramsey, Minn.; and a half brother: John Quast of Bayport, Minn. He was preceded in death by two grandsons: Alex and Brian Quast

A funeral service will be conducted for Marlin on Friday, April 2, 2004 at 7 p.m. at St. James United Church of Christ in Spring Valley. The Rev. William Kesting, pastor of St. James will officiate. Committal service will be held at St. James Cemetery on Saturday at 9 a.m. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 4 p.m. until the time of the service.
