Mrs. Alvina Payne, 83, a resident of Sunny ridge since last month, died there shortly before 6 a.m. today. The former Alvina Kolb, she was born in the town of Meeme, Feb. 20, 1879, a daughter of the late Ernest and Emma Kolb. She attended public school in Meeme and was confirmed in March, 1894 at St. James Evangelical Church, Spring Valley. As a young woman she went out west, spending the greater part of her life in Harlem, Mont.
Her marriage to Philip Payne took place in Chinook, Mont., Oct. 15, 1921. Mrs. Payne returned to Sheboygan in 1947, working several years here as a practical nurse. She had resided at the local King's Daughters home until going to Sunny Ridge. Mrs. Payne was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and Unity Fellowship Church.
Surviving are three brothers, Dr. Fred Kolb, Spokane, Wash., Roland of Cedarburg and Emil of Davenport, Ia., and two sisters, Mrs. Rose Lehan of Chicago and Mrs. Emma Jacobi of Newton. Three brothers and four sisters preceded her in death.
Services will be at the Ballhorn Funeral Capel with the Rev. Luverna Bauer, pastor of United Fellowship Church, officiating. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery, Spring Valley.
