Arno E. Hansmann, 84 of Route 1, Newton in the Town of Meeme, died unexpectedly at his home Sunday morning of an apparent heart attack. He was born March 1, 1899 in the Town of Schleswig, son of the late Christ and Lena Voss Hansmann. He attended school in the Town of Schleswig and was married to the former Elsie Fiedler on May 28, 1932 at St. James United Church of Christ in Spring Valley. They farmed in the Town of Meeme until retiring in 1966. Mrs. Hansmann died in 1979. He was a member of St. James United Church of Christ, Spring Valley.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. John (Darlene) Long of Independence, Mo.; a son, Ronald of Cleveland; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild; a sister, Mrs. Oscar Neumann of rural Kiel; two brothers, Walter of rural Kiel and Theodore of Plymouth. He was preceded in death by two brothers.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 pm Wednesday at St. James United Church of Christ, Spring Valley. The Rev. William Klossner, pastor, will officiate. Friends may call at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home in Kiel after 4 pm Tuesday, from 9 until 11 am Wednesday and at the church from noon until the time of service.
