Perry, May 14.—Mrs. Marion B. Tomlinson, widow of the late George Tomlinson, died yesterday morning at her home in Center street of this village, aged 87 years. Mrs. Tomlinson had been an invalid for the past two years. She was the oldest daughter of James and Martha Heath Sprague, and was born in Pavilion, Genesee county on August 31, 1823. Her parents were in the manufacturing business in Covington for many years.
The deceased was united in marriage to George Tomlinson, of Covington, in 1843. He was engaged in farming in that section for some time, but came to Perry in 1870, when he became engaged in the flouring business. He was the owner of the Silver Lake Mills from 1870 until his death three years ago, when he was succeeded by his son. Mr. Tomlinson was a politician, church worker and poet. He held many important village offices. He was also organizer of the Wyoming County Historical Society and served as president for seven years.
Mrs. Tomlinson was a member of the Universalist Church of this place. Her generous work along church and social lines was an important part of her life. She leaves one son, J. Frank Tomlinson, and one daughter, Mrs. Helen Bliss Gillette, both of Perry.
The funeral will be held from the late residence Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. Clara Morgan of the Universalist church officiating. Burial will take place in Hope cemetery of this village.
