I used her birthdate from Social Security Applications:
Name: Ethel Caroline Bean
[Ethel Caroline Ritchie]
Gender: Female
Race: White
Birth Date: 26 May 1897
Birth Place: Willow Brook, Missouri
Father: James Ritchie
Mother: Cora L Cox
SSN: 531300021
Notes: Jun 1949: Name listed as ETHEL CAROLINE BEAN
I don't know why she is buried here or who is responsible especially since they used Heitman for her surname instead of her husband at the time William Bean?

Ethel was only four years old when her mother died in 1902, her sister Pearl was two and brother Floyd S Ritchie was only 12 months old in Willow Brook, Buchanan, Missouri. Their father remarried but died in 1909. I believe they had a really hard childhood, she and her sister Pearl lived with their paternal grandmother in the 1910 census. Their grandfather Wm JJ Ritchie had died in 1908 so their grandmother Amanda Caroline Ritchie was caring for them until she died in 1916. Their brother Floyd was raised by his maternal grandmother Sarah Jane Lansaw Cox.

Ethel married first Jacob Heitman in Buchanan county Missouri around 1916. She was his second wife and they had six children. In the 1930 census Jake and Ethel are living in different households and appear to be divorced or separated at that time. Children of Jake and Ethel are:

Marshall Seth Heitman 1916–1985
Marie Ethel Heitman 1918–1981
Edna L 'Pinky' Heitman 1922–1992
Lois Jean Heitman 1928–2002
Lee James Heitman 1928–1980
Erwin Marvin Heitman 1934–1996

I was lucky enough to speak with Lois before she passed and she told me all of Ethel's children had died from cancer. Ethel and her sister Pearl my grandmother along with her two sons John and Earl Abbott all died from cancer.

Second she married William T Bean and they had a son Floyd Theodore Bean 1937– who is to my knowledge still living.

I have no idea why Heitman is on her headstone instead of Bean which was her last husband.
