On March 23, 1899, Chalmer W. Cunningham and Edith N. Carnes, both of Denver, Worth County, Missouri, took out a marriage license in Gentry County, Missouri. They were married by W. S. Hoke, Minister of the Gospel on March 26, 1899 at Denver, MO.

Edith died of acute dilatation of her heart, aged 56y 2m 6d at her daughter's home where she lived. Buried in Platte City Cemeteries (Hillcrest) beside her husband, C.W. Cunningham.
