James Guenther, age 76 of Magnet, Nebraska died on Friday, March 15, 2013 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa.
Funeral Services will be at the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington with the Rev. Jeffery Loseke officiating. Inurnment will be at the Magnet Cemetery at a later date.
James A. Guenther was born on October 6, 1936 in Crofton, Nebraska to Jacob and Regina Mary (McNally) Guenther. He grew up in the Wynot and St. James area and attended Sts. Philip & James School. He then worked on the family farm until entering the U.S. Army. After his discharge from the Army, James had various jobs in the northeast Nebraska area. He married LaVonne A. Koppelmann on August 29, 1980 in Pierce, NE. James worked for the Waldbaum Company in Bloomfield for 20 years from 1991-2011. He was a member of the Osmond VFW.
James is survived by his wife, LaVonne of Magnet, NE; three children and their spouses, Lisa and Chad Rowlett of Dover, TN, Shelly and Cedric Johnson of Olympia, WA, and Jimmy Guenther of Hartington; three grandchildren; one great granddaughter; three sisters Eleanor Bergman of Coleridge, NE, Dorothy Murray of Hartington, NE, and Alice Schumacher of Norfolk, NE; brother Ralph Guenther of Yankton, SD.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers Harold, Marvin, and Armand Guenther; sister Verna Pinkelman; brothers-in-law Dale Bergman, Vern Murray, Alphonse Pinkelman, Jerome Schumacher; sister-in-law Angeline Guenther.
