William L. Luckow, age 81, formerly of 3610 Waldo Blvd., Manitowoc, died early Friday morning, May 18, 2007, at the Manitowoc Health Care Center, Manitowoc.
He was born July 28, 1925, in Manitowoc, son of the late Louis and Odillia (Stephani) Luckow. William proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1946 in France, Germany, Austria and participated in the Battle of the Bulge.
On Nov. 25, 1948, he married the former Marjorie Krcma at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Tisch Mills.
William was employed at Luckow Landscape from 1946 to 1967 where he developed a passion for nature and a love of horticulture. In 1967, he and Marjorie purchased the landscape service which he operated until his retirement in 1987.
He was a longtime member of the Eagles Aerie 706, St. Francis of Assisi and a former member of Master Builders. He was an avid fisherman and loved camping with family and friends at Peninsula State Park. He later enjoyed many summers at his property in Door County. He especially enjoyed time spent there with his grandson, Jonathan. He and his wife spent many years wintering in Florida and most recently Gulf Shores, Ala.

He was preceded in death by four brothers: Henry, Harold, Melvin and John; three sisters: Amanda, Alice and Eleanor; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Arnold Princl, Dorothy Luckow, Lillian Luckow, Adeline and Milton Zander, Frances Krema, Leona and Virgil Zipperer, Eugene Krcma, Paul Krcma and Joe Krcma.
Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m. Monday, May 21, 2007, at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo Blvd., Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Dan Felton with entombment at Knollwood Mausoleum, town of Kossuth, at a later date.
The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo Blvd., Manitowoc, from 3 p.m. Monday, May 21, 2007, until the time of service at 5 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in his name.
The family extends a special thank you to the staff at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, St. Vincent Hospital and Manitowoc Health Care Center, for their loving care extended to William and his family.
