Ronald Larry Peterson, affectionately known by family and friends as Ronnie, was born on May 3, 1947 to the proud parents of Otis and Lottie Peterson in San Francisco, California. Ronnie received Christ at an early age at Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church in Oakland, California. He was preceded in death by his parents Otis and Lottie Peterson, grandparents Leroy and Norisy Peterson and John and Maude Cofield, as well as his "baby" brother Roland Peterson.

Ronald was raised in Oakland, California, where as a child he attended Laffayette, Lincoln and Cole Elementary Schools, Madison Junior High School and Castlemont High School, from which he graduated in 1965. In High School Ronald accomplished many things including serving on the JV Wrestling Team and Drill Team (ROTC). After graduation, Ronnie served in the US Marine Corp where he did two tours of duty in Vietnam. He also went on to pursue post-secondary studies at Merritt College and St Mary's College where he received his certification as a paralegal. In addition to paralegal work, Ronnie was employed by Pacific Bell Phone Company in Albany California, and Del Monte Canning Company in Alameda, California. He also pursued many talents over the course of his life including working as a free-lance photographer, and running the family business, Airport City Cleaners.

Ronald was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 25, 2013. To cherish his memory, Ronnie leaves: his wife Deitra Peterson, his sons; Ronald K Peterson, Ronald L Peterson Jr. and Aaron Peterson, and his daughters Kimya Jamerson and Sherry Hudson. He leaves thirteen grandchildren: Kejon, Alvon, Aaron, Aariya, Rashad, Terry, Terrell, Lamar, Devareia, Jodeci, Joe, Javon and Angel. five great-grandchildren: Soriya, Terry, Terrell, Anna and Kimyah, brothers Calvin, Rick and Ralph Peterson, sisters Pamela Moore, Paulette Riley and Karen Bland, his first wife, Fredi Slaughter, and a host of aunts, uncles, brothers-in-laws, sister-in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
