Brigham City - Bobby Dean Barker passed away peacefully on March 14, 2013.
He was born August 13, 1922 to Claude Rufus and Iva Nelson Barker in Brigham City, Utah.
At the age of 17 he joined the National Guard and was later drafted into the army where he served during WWII.
He attended the Agricultural College in logan where he met the love of his life, Freda Merle Jones, who was attending USU. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on June 12, 1946. Freda passed away in Aug. of 1976.
Dad met and then married another lovely lady, Jean Utley, in the Ogden Temple on Jan. 22, 1977. She later passed away in Dec. 2003.
He worked as a dairy farmer for many years and then as a custodian for the High School and at a grade school in Brigham City.
Dad was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of latter Day Saints where he served in several church callings.
Dad did military honors at funerals and also took part in the Golden Spike reenactment. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Bobby is survived by his children, Darryl J (Sherrie); Karen (Larry) Peterson; Mary Ann (Gordon) Peck; 3 step daughters Diana Simpson, Clair (Dennis) Brown, and Corinne (Jerry) Ortega: 26 grandchildren and 72 great grandchildren and one on the way. He is also survived by his sister Donna (Lee) Hanson and brother LeRoy (Ann) Barker.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, 2 brothers and a sister.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 18, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Gillies Funeral Chapel, 634 East 200 South, Brigham City.
Viewing will be held on Monday from 10:00 to 10:40 a.m. at the funeral chapel.
Interment will be at Brigham City Cemetery.
