Sarah Kathleen was born in Cherokee, Texas, to the late Dudley and Sallie (Patrick) Battle. She married O. C. Byrd, in Brady, Texas, in November of 1943. She has lived in Central Texas for 60 years and was a member of the Belton Church of Christ. Reading has remained her favorite hobby since she was a small child. She also loved to cook and crochet. She was a homemaker and cooked for the Belton ISD.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
Survivors include her sons, Jack Byrd, of Billings, Montana, and Teague Byrd, of Austin, Texas; daughter, Kay Larson, of Belton, Texas; grandsons, Jay and Kyle Larson; and four great-granddaughters.
