Betty Lou Walker, age 83, of Menan, died at The Gables in Idaho Falls, Thursday, March 14, 2013.
Betty was born October 23, 1929 in Timber Creek, Nebraska, a daughter to Walter and Ada Pearl Anderson Bennett. She attended schools in the Belgrade, Nebraska area until her family moved to Clark, Idaho where she attended Rigby schools graduating from Rigby High school.
On July 17, 1950 she married Theodore "Ted" Charles Walker in Pocatello, Idaho.
She worked for Idaho Falls Meat from 1964 to 1975 driving meat truck with her husband. In April of 1976 she began work for Artco in Rexburg as a bookkeeper until retirement in 1991.
She served on the Jefferson Library Board and worked as the Clerk for the Library. She was a member of ESA Sorority. She belonged to T.O.P.S., and was active in the Senior Citizens in Roberts. She was a member of the LDS Church serving as librarian and compassionate service leader.
She enjoyed reading, gardening, sewing, quilting and watching grandchildren in all their activities. She was a very caring person and was loved by all who knew her.
Survivors include: children; Betty (Charles) Day, of Menan, Patty (Alvie) Day, of Roberts, Susan (Terry) Schuetz, of Roberts, Jeri (David) Nelson, of Shelley, Paul (Kathy) Walker, of Rigby and Brian (Jeanne) Walker, of Menan; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ted, one son Charles, one granddaughter, Jennifer Walker, and one great-granddaughter, Reegan Day.
The family expresses appreciation to Aspen Hospice and the staff at The Gables of Ammon.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Menan LDS Church on Main Street in Menan with Bishop Gary Asper of the Menan 2nd Ward conducting. The family will visit with friends on Tuesday at Eckersell Memorial Chapel 101 West Main, Rigby, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. and on Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery.
