Douglas Wayne Galloway, age 73, of Blairsville, GA and formerly of Cedartown, GA, passed away February 14, 2013 following a brief illness. Mr. Galloway was born September 3, 1939 in Cedartown, GA, the son of the late Olin Jefferson Galloway and the late Mary Williams Galloway. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law Barbara Wheeler and Glenn Wheeler.

He was retired from Delta Airlines where he worked for twenty-seven plus years as a mechanic. He was a United States Veteran, proudly serving with the U.S. Army for seven years. He was a member of the Lions Club of Towns County, a member of the American Legion and a member of the Retired Civil Air Patrol of Union County. Mr. Galloway was a member of the Community Chapel of Rome, GA and had been attending the House of Prayer in Blairsville, GA.

Douglas Wayne Galloway is survived by his loving wife Maria Creanga Galloway; so Robert Ellis Galloway of Macon; stepson John Dawkins of North Carolina; stepdaughters: Carmen and Traian Ghidu of Lawrenceville and Daniela and Marius Lupu of Germany; sisters and brothers-in-law Gwen and Jerry Camp of Cedartown, Brenda and Herman Watson of Cave Spring and Janie and Jim McConnell of Young Harris, GA; grandchildren Joshua and Nicholas Ghidu, Brittany, Meghan, Courtney and R.J. Galloway. A number of nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Douglas Wayne Galloway were conducted at the Chapel of the Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home with Rev. Bud Davis officiating. Interment followed in the Polk Memory Gardens with full military honors being conducted by the Brewster - Cleveland Post 86 Honor Guard. The following Gentlemen served as pallbearers: Traian Ghidu, Chris Camp, Jeff Wheeler, Jerimiah Wheeler, Dakota Pruitt, Todd Watson, and Brad Wheeler.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions can be made to the Food Pantry of Towns County.
