Rosa Lohr, 93, of Kentland, passed away on Friday, July 1, 2022 at Green Hill Manor of Fowler. She was born October 29, 1928 in Mt. Ayr, Indiana to the late Meno Anderson and Amanda (Hochstetler) Anderson.

Rosa attended Mt. Ayr School until the age of 16. She would return to A.J. Kent High School in 1961, graduating in 1964 as an honor student. Rosa left school as an Amish tradition, restarting high school as her youngest son started school. Rosa went with her younger classmates on senior trips to NYC and Washington D.C.

Her marriage was to Cyrus Marvin Lohr on October 20, 1948 in Mt. Ayr. Cyrus preceded her in death on May 22, 1983. Rosa left the Amish Church to marry and joined the Methodist Church but kept her Amish heritage close at heart.

Rosa was very active in the Trinity United Methodist Church of Kentland, Eastern Star, and loved attending many A.J. Kent High School and Mt. Ayr alumni reunions.

After high school, Rosa briefly worked at the Newton County Courthouse. She would later become bookkeeper for the GM Dealership in town with 40 years of employment through five different owners.

Rosa loved to bake and was well known for her cinnamon bread. In her earlier years, Rosa exhibited baked goods at the Newton County Fair with many prizes received. She was generous and loving and enjoyed great friendships of many. She enjoyed sending cards and letters to family and friends.

Rosa is survived by her sister, Tillie Shank of Goshen, IN; three sons, Doug Lohr (JoAnn) of Kentland, IN, Bill Lohr (Kathy) of Gettysburg, OH, and Tim Lohr (Gloria) of Kentland, IN. Grandchildren, Jason Lohr (Tricia) of Lafayette, IN, Allison Harris (Levi) of Lafayette, IN, Nathan Lohr (Ashley) of Indianapolis, IN, Chris Lohr (Kristen) of Dayton, OH, Caleb Lohr of Delaware, OH, and Lindsey Glodick (Joe) of Hollansburg, OH. Great-grandchildren, Andrew Lohr, Camden Harris, Sydney Harris, Josh Lohr, Adam Lohr, Hayley Kennett, Kellen Lohr, Owen Lohr, James Lohr, Graham Glodick, and Ian Glodick. Rosa is also survived by sister-in-law, Marilyn Anderson of Valparaiso, IN and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death along with her husband and parents is an infant daughter; siblings, Emma Yoder, Clara Hochstetler, Fannie Kauffman, Sarah Harshberger, Millie Miller, Andy Anderson, Rudy Anderson, and Henry Anderson. Rosa is also preceded in death by three nephews.

Friends may call from 9 AM (CDT) until the time of Funeral Service 11 AM (CDT) Saturday, July 9, 2022 at Trinity United Methodist Church of Kentland. Rev. Marilyn Sikes to officiate. Interment to follow in Fairlawn Cemetery of Kentland.
