ANDREW LEE MOLDENHAUER

On Friday January 6, 2012, the world lost an amazing steward of compassion and love. Andrew Lee Moldenhauer passed away at his home surrounded by his family and friends. Andy was born in Fredericksburg, TX on November 17, 1946 to Walter and Erna Moldenhauer. Andy graduated from Fredericksburg High School in 1965. He went on to earn his Bachelors degree from Texas Lutheran University in 1969. While at TLU, Andy played tight end for the football team and met his wife Sheila. Sheila and Andy were married on December 27, 1969. Shortly after, Andy entered the Army security Agency, where he served for three years. Andy received his Masters degree from The University of Texas at Austin in Kinesiology.

He coached and taught at several schools, including Pflugerville High School and Round Rock High School, from which he retired in 2003 after teaching for 33 years. Andy was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church in Round Rock. He helped found the Round Rock Area Serving Center and participated in countless philanthropic efforts. Andy was an avid runner, completing several marathons. He also enjoyed biking, hiking, camping, working on his pond, and his beloved Longhorns. Andy devoted his life to coaching, teaching, his faith and his family.

Andy is preceded in death by his parents Erna and Walter Moldenhauer, Sr. and his sister Rosie Boos. Andrew is survived by his wife Sheila Moldenhauer; his daughter Sarah, her husband Joey Gonzalez and granddaughter Heidi; son Jacob, his wife Christine Moldenhauer and grandson Taos; brothers Walter Moldenhauer and David Moldenhauer, sister Annie and her husband Joe Frantzen, sister Betty and her husband Ray Tschirhart, sister Joyce Manning and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
