Nellie R. Castro 83, died at home March 11, 2013.
She was born in Tucson, AZ, the daughter of Mariano and Laura Ramirez. In 1950 she married her "Valentine", Gilbert B. Castro.
She is survived by her husband, Gilbert; daughters, Laura Urias and Cynthia (Greg) Johnson; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her daughters, Annette Gerardo and Elizabeth Aksteter.
Nellie took great joy in her family. She was filled with love, compassion and interest in others. She was known for her elegant grace, fashionable style and generous hospitality. Nellie always made everyone feel welcomed and loved.
She was an active volunteer, most notably for the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, where she held several Officers positions during her years of service.
Nellie's life will be celebrated in a Mass at St. John's Catholic Church Thursday, March 14, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. with a burial to follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. Arrangements by CARRILLO'S TUCSON MORTUARY.
