MISSOULA - Peter "Pete" Lehl, 85, passed away Sunday, June 23, 2002, at the Riverside Health Care Center.

He was born June 25, 1916, in Lincoln, Neb., to John and Kathryn Lehl. Pete was raised on a farm in Paxton, Neb., and moved to Missoula in 1944. He served with the Army during World War II.

After his discharge, he worked for Art Keefe for several years delivering coal. He then worked for Nicholson Paving and Associated Asphalt for 20 years, during which time he also was the custodian for the Union Club for 15 years.

On March 28, 1969, he married Lois Wulle Neilson in Anaconda. He was a bingo caller for 30 years at various clubs around Missoula. He loved working bingo and also liked playing the game. He liked being around people and loved to travel. He was a member of the American Legion, Teamsters union and the Laborers union.

Pete is survived by his wife Lois; children Charles Lehl, Shirley Cochran and Kathryn Herman; stepchildren Carol Bessette, Wayne Neilson, Janice Peterson and Barbara Neilson; grandchildren Sheri Davis, Bill Frieze, Joanna Campbell, Shelly Martin, Wade Wright, Herman Lehl, Rachel Harley, Kevin Peterson, Steven Peterson, Brian Bessette and Shelly Van De Hey; several great-grandchildren; brother Albert Lehl; sister Christine Leonhardt; and several nieces and nephews. He also is survived by a very good friend, Tobey Reiner.

He was preceded in death by his son Bobby Joe Lehl, son-in-law Warren Cochran, his parents and several brothers and sisters.

No services are planned. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to the Cremation and Burial Society of the Rockies.

Memorials are preferred to Partners in Home Care Hospice, 500 N. Higgins Ave., Suite 201, Missoula, MT 59802; or to the donor's choice.
