Services for William T. "Tinker" Newsom of
Prentiss are 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, at Wanilla Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.

Visitation is Tuesday, June 4, from 5-9 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home and Wednesday, June 5, from 10 a.m. until service time at Wanilla Baptist Church.

Mr. Newsom, 84, died Monday, June 3, 2002, at his residence. He was born in Jackson on March 11, 1918, to the late Samuel E. and Minnie Keen Newsom.

He was a brakeman with Southern Railroad and a section foreman with Mississippi Central Railroad.

Preceding him in death were his parents; brother, Roscoe Morgan Newsome; and sisters, Barbara Boutwell and Ruby Thornhill.

Survivors are his wife, Yevette Rutledge Newsom of Prentiss; daughter, Carolyn Adcock of Prentiss; brothers, Samuel Newsome of Sontag and Joseph P. Newsome of Brookhaven; sisters, Margaret R. Pepper and Etta Fay Hibbard of Brookhaven, Marie Evans of Biloxi and Pauline Lambert and Sarah E. Calcote of Wanilla; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
