Died At Sparta, January 7th, 1880, Hugh Hogue, at the advanced age of 92.

The deceased was born in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania AD 1788 and moved to Sparta, WI in the Summer of 1854. He raised a family of eleven children, eight of whom are still living. His present living decendents number at about 113.

The ME Church of which he had been an active member for many years have sustained a great loss, especially the Big Creek Church of Sparta circuit, west Wisconsin conference. His wife died two years before him.

Children included:
1. Jesse P Hogue (1810-1888)
2. Robert (1811-1891) of Sparta, WI; married Rachel, she died 1873; in 1874 married Catherine Farnsworth (Note: his son was William N Hogue (1843-1913) of Sparta

3. Sarah (Cassimer) Wittig (1813-1885) of Lycoming Co., PA
4. James P (1816)
5. Elizabeth (David) Fulton (1819-1905) of Sparta, WI
6. John (1822)
7. Hugh T (1825-1896) of Sparta, civil war veteran
8. William (1828-1900) of Sparta, Married Jane Long
9. Mary Ann Crosby (1831)
10. Margaret
11. Samuel D Hogue (1834-1908) of Strum, WI
