*obit reflects date of 1868

*Residing in Danforth, Iowa when at the age of 22 he enlisted on 19 November 1863 into the 22nd Iowa Volunteer Infantry. Mustered in on 19 November 1863. Placed in Co. H for a term of three years. Was wounded on 19 October 1864 at Cedar Creek. Apparently wound was not severe enough for medical discharge as mustered out with company on 25 July 1865 in Savannah, Georgia.
