Annie Horrocks was the daughter of John and Margaret Grace Shea. She was preceeded in death by her mother in 1878 and father in 1881 in St. Louis, MO. Annie was married in 1868 in St. Louis MO to Henry (aka Harry) Horrock(s) and by the 1880 census she was listed as a widow although it was found that her husband actually died in Chicago, IL in 1925 and is buried in Woodlawn Cemetery there. Annie also died in Chicago IL, where she had been living on Indiana Ave with her son Harry and his wife Frances Horrocks. Her son Harry's middle name was also Francis. She was taken back to St. Louis for burial in the family plot at Calvary Cemetery. It's unknown as to why Henry is not living with the family from about 1873 onward, but he either deserted her, or she thought he was dead. It seems a coincidence that they both end up in Chicago, IL, although living separately. However, she may have found him there, or he may have found her and moved there to be close to her before she died in 1922. He lived another 3 years until his death in October of 1925. Their first child, Emma Braham Horrocks (probably named for Henry's sister, Emma and Braham for his mother's maiden name) died on Jan. 29, 1870 and is buried in the family plot at Calvary in St. Louis. On the 1910 census, Annie states that she had 7 children and 4 are still living at that time, those being Grace Horrocks Jungling, Benjamin J, Harry Francis, and Julia Horrocks Brown. Her daughter Grace died just two years after Annie in December 1924 at the age of 44. Annie is the sister to my great grandmother, Alice Shea Coughlin, also of St. Louis, MO. Annie's siblings were James Shea, Alice Coughlin Mary Wilson (married the gymnast Luke Wilson of the famous Wilson Bros performers in New York City and Europe), Johanna (she died in 1869 and is buried in the family plot) and Elizabeth Turner who died in Saline Co, Nebraska and was brought back home to rest in the family plot at Calvary in St. Louis, MO. Annie and her Shea family immigrated to the United States around 1865 and were in St. Louis by the time of the 1870 census.
