Donald L. Richardson, 81, of rural Piper City, IL., died on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at 1:15 P.M.at his home surrounded by his family, following a lengthy illness. His funeral mass will be celebrated by the Rev. Michael Pennock on Saturday. March 16, 2013 at 11 :00 A.M. at St. Peter Catholic Church in Piper City . Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Piper City. Military rites by the Gibb Post 588 of the American Legion Piper City, Il. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday March. 15, 2013 at the Redenius Funeral Home in Gilman with recitation of the Rosary at 3:30 P.M. Memorials may be made to.St. Peter Catholic Church Piper City, OSF Hospice Normal, Il., or Gibb Post 588 Piper City, Il.

Donald was born in Ludlow, IL., on May 18, 1931 to Alton Francis and Mabel (Ostrom) Richardson. His childhood was spent in Ludlow. He attended Paxton High School. He married Beverly J. Hartman on October 27, 1951 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Paxton, IL. Survivors include his children - Annette (Larry) Wilson of Indian Land, South Carolina, Rita (Gordon) Fuoss of Piper City, Philip (Kay) Richardson of rural Roberts, IL., Rebecca Hohenstein of Champaign IL., Mark (Sharon) Richardson of Penfield, IL., and John Richardson of Shell Knob, MO. Eleven grandchildren. Four great-grandchildren. One sister - Patricia (Jerry) Rydell of Paxton. Two brothers - Warren (Esther) Richarson of Shorewood, IL., and James (Gerti) Richardson of Thomasboro, IL. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers - John and Robert and five sisters - Frances, Kathleen, Margaret, Barbara and Rita who died in infancy.

Donald was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Piper City and was Past Parish President for 20 years. He was a Navy Veteran in the Korean War and was a member of the Gibb Post 588 of the American Legion Piper City, Il. for 55 years. He was a Knights of Columbus member and served on the Ford County Conservation Board. Donald enjoyed hunting, fishing, all sports activites and was an avid Cubs fan.
