Cindy Peterson, 51, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away Saturday, August 18 at home after a long battle with cancer. Memorial services will be 3:00 p.m., Thursday, August 23 at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., Kansas City, Kansas. Friends may call from 2:00-services at the funeral home. Inturnment will be private at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lung Cancer Research Foundation or the Susan G. Komen Foundation .
Cindy was born October 3, 1960 in Kansas City, Kansas to William Leasel and Beverly Jean (Major) Cain. She graduated from Turner High School and met her husband David when she was 21. They married on Valentine's Day. Cindy worked in the home and loved her family more than anything. She was a wonderful cook, enjoyed gardening, music and was passionate about the KC Chiefs.
Cindy was preceded in death by her husband David Peterson, mother Beverly and in-laws Josephine and Harold Peterson.
She is survived by her father William Cain, step-father Patrick Hurd, daughters Erica and Andrea Peterson of Overland Park, sister Diane Shultz of Overland Park, sister Linda Bryant and husband Kevin of Overland Park, brother Michael Hurd of Independence, Kansas, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, in-laws and friends.
