Arnett Rites Held Today Near Shawnee
Services were held Wednesday in Blackburn chapel west of Shawnee for Gertha Bruce Arnett, 73, who died Monday in Shawnee. Burial was at Fairlawn cemetery under the direction of the Strode funeral home. Gertha B. Arnett was born on June 6, 1883 at Murphysboro, Tenn., son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas W. Arnett. He was married on Jan. 1, 1908 to Stella Mann at Quanah, Texas. They lived at Goodlett, Texas, following their marriage, then came to Stillwater in 1942, where he was custodian at the college for eight years. Since 1951 they have lived at Shawnee. He is survived by his widow, a son and two daughters, Virgil Arnett of Chicago, Ill.; Mrs. K. C. Bennett of Miami and Mrs. Merle Edmonds of Rt. 4, Stillwater. One daughter died at the age of three. There are five grandchildren. Two brothers and five sisters who survive are Pat of Oklahoma City; Herman of Midwest City; Mrs. Elgie Buchwald and Mrs. Stella Baker of Midwest City; Mrs. Kenneth Page of Iowa Park, Texas; Mrs. Nora Page of Quanah, Texas and Mrs. Henry Scott of Goodlett, Texas.
