Vernon H. Bohn 89, of Tucson died January 25, 2011, after a brief bout with bone cancer.
Born on a farm near Bulter, S.D., on September 10, 1921, the son of Harvey and Rose Bohn.
His parents and his wife of 47 years Gladys Bohn preceded him in death.
He is survived by his son, Wynn Bohn and his daughter, Kim (Nazib) Cranz; grandson, Kyle Cranz, all of Tucson.
Vernon was a WWll veteran having served in the 8th Air Force, 390th bombardment group. He was assigned to a B17 as a ball turret gunner. He was involved in the air offensive of Europe and Normandy, receiving the Air Medal with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters and the Distinguished Flying Cross. Following his military service, he was employed at Magma Copper as a contract miner, retiring after 28 years. He will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Dove of Peace Lutheran Church, 605 W. Roller Coaster Road. Arrangements by DESERT ROSE CREMATION & BURIAL.
