Mollie Grace Patterson was the daughter of James L and Mary Ann Crain-Patterson, she was born at McCune Kansas July 19th, 1884. She moved west with his parents in about 1893. By 1897 she was living with her parents at Uniontown Washington, and later moved with them down on the Snake River at Asotin Washington. About a year after her father had died Mollie along with her brothers, Henry and John went over out of Dayton Washington and worked the harvest on the Vaughn ranch. Mollie married Charlie Franklin Jackson in about 1902. While working on a flax ranch in Iola (Craigmont) Idaho, a son Vernon Harold was born July 7th, 1903. In 1907 the Jackson's were living at Tacoma Washington where Charlie was working on the streetcars. When Vernon was five years old, the couple separated and then divorced. In about 1909 Mollie married Alexander Grant. They had two sons; Jack D and Wilbur. In about 1912 while the Grant's were living at Uniontown, Mollie's first husband, who had shared custody, disappeared without a trace with their son Vernon. After Uniontown the Grant's lived at Sprague Washington and then Philipsburg Montana. While living at Philipsburg, the Grant car was hit by a train in Dell Montana, killing Mollie's mother instantly, breaking her husband's leg, and severely bruising her and son Jack. By 1920 they were living in Tacoma. About 1941 Mollie and Alexander were divorced. In about 1945 Mollie married for the last time to Jesse William Miles, and they made their home in Tacoma. In October 1956, after forty four years, Mollie and her son Vernon were joyfully reunited. Jesse died April 23rd, 1958, and Mollie died April 23rd, 1972 of complications of breast cancer. She is buried at Mountain View Memorial Park, Lakewood Washington.
