Karen Fortney, age 66 years, a resident of Dailey, passed away Friday evening,
March 8, 2013 at her home. She had been in her usual health and her death was
unexpected. She was born September 2, 1946 at Mabie, a daughter of the late
Russell and Shirley Currence Taylor. She was twice married, first to James Carr
who preceded her in death and later to Marshall Fortney who also preceded her in
death. Surviving are one son, James “Tracy” Carr and wife Shelly of Elkins, one
daughter, Kimberly Klager and husband David of Elkins, three sisters, Wanda
Channell, Linda Lambert and Brenda West, three brothers, Gilbert, Jerry and
David Taylor, step children, Marsha Moore, Rick, Steve, Rodney and Dewayne
Fortney, Tammy Ketterman and Tonya Arbogast, five grandchildren, Gavin and
Addison Carr and Alex, Kaitlyn and Trevor Klager, several step grandchildren,
step great grandchildren and her dog, Sassy. Also preceding her in death in
addition to her parents and husbands were several brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Fortney was employed at Little Caesars Pizza in Elkins and had worked for
Colonial Place for the past several years. Friends may call from 6:00 pm until
8:00 pm Thursday, March 14, 2013 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A
funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, March 15th from the funeral
home chapel with Rev. Dr. Marvin L. Parli officiating. Interment will follow in
the Mountain State Memorial Gardens near Gilman. The Tomblyn Funeral Home of
Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Karen Fortney. Condolences may be
