Joseph J. Voly, Sr., age 80, died peacefully at home on Tuesday January 30, 2007 surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Joseph was born in Wilmington to the late Michael and Rose Corrozi Voly. He retired from the Chrysler Corp. in Newark in 1983 after 30 years of service. He was an Army Veteran of World War II, a member of the New Castle Moose Lodge & St. Anthony's Catholic Church. He had a great devotion to the Blessed Mother. Jose enjoyed watching football and was an avid Eagles fan. He enjoyed taking his daily walks, listening to Frank Sinatra, spending time with his family and vacationing at the beach. He had a great sense of humor and will be sadly missed by all who loved him.
He is predeceased in death by 2 brothers, Dominick and John Voly; and son-in-law Robert Carter. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Florence Reynolds Voly; 3 children, Deborah Carter, of Newark, DE, Joanne Lingafelt and fiancé, James Smith, of Newport, DE and Joseph Butch Voly, Jr. and wife, Deborah, of West Chester, PA; 2 sisters, Caroline Ciccatelli and Frances Howell, of the Antonian in Wilmington; and devoted friend, Jack Woods.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday February 5, at 10 am, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church 9th & Dupont Streets, Wilmington, DE. Entombment will be at Cathedral Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday February 4, from 2-4 pm, at the Corleto-Latina Funeral Home 808 N. Union St. Wilm., DE.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Compassionate Care Hospice, 5610 Kirkwood Highway Wilmington, DE 19808.
