T. A. MARSHALL DEAD

We pick up the pen with trembling hand to tell the Democrat readers of our great loss in the death of "Uncle" Tom who past peacefully away Saturday evening, January 22, 1910. He had not been feeling well during the past year but had not been confined to his room, and only the week before had attended the Implement Dealers' convention at Kansas City and had come home feeling even better than he had felt for some time, so his death was quite a shock to the community.

He has blazed the way for us and was one of our best known men. In fact, so well known was he, we need only to say that "Uncle" Tom Marshall is gone, to know we have all lost a good kind friend.

A few days previous to his death, Dr. Rohan of this place and Dr. St. John of Pineville were called and they pronounced Mr. Marshall suffering from acute indigestion.

Mr. Marshall was an old resident of this place. He had almost reached the age of 72 years. Despite his many years he was an active business man and during his lifetime had amassed a large fortune.

Funeral services by Rev. James Emery, of Pineville, were conducted at the home Monday, at 2:00 o'clock after which the body was taken in charge by the I.O.O.F. Lodge which Mr. Marshall was a charter member of the Noel organization. The burial services were conducted by that order. One hundred Odd Fellows from various places were in line. The remains were laid to rest in the Marshall cemetery and many paid a last tribute to the departed dead.

He leaves a wife and four daughters to mourn his death.

CARD OF THANKS

We take this method of saying we appreciate the many deeds of kindness of our friends in the sickness and death of our beloved husband and father. We sincerely thank you.
