After an illness that has extended over the past year and being bedfast practically since Christmas, Jonathan Brown , of Victoria street, passed away Friday morning. Deceased was born in Elgin County, Malahide township, near Aylmer over 68 years ago, and has resided in Clinton nearly 25 years. For over 15 years he was connected with the Electric Light plant. Besides his widow, he is survived by a son (H. L. Brown of Toronto), and two daughters (Nellie at home, and Mrs. McTaggart of Dunboyne). Deceased was an adherent of the Wesley church, Liberal in politics and a strong advocate for temperance, and a member of the I. O. F. A short memorial service was held at the home on Sunday evening and the body was taken on the early morning train, Monday to Aylmer and from there interment was made at the Dunboyne cemetery.

Jonathan was married to Mary Eleanor Balcomb who was born 1842 and died at Toronto 30 Aug. 1915. They had 7 children.

No gravestone found but his infant children are buried at the Dunboyne Cemetery. The Clinton obituary says he was buried at Dunboyne but the Aylmer Express notice claims he was buried at the Aylmer Cemetery.
