She was born in Stoughton, WI the daughter of Carl and Mary (Devins) Hvam. Jean was a 1932 graduate of Beloit High School. She married Donald E. Goodwin on February 27, 1943 in St. Thomas Catholic Church, Beloit. He predeceased her on March 21, 1991.
Jean was employed in the Navy Building during WWII for Fairbanks Morse, Crystal Foods, and retired as a secretary in the Beloit school system in 1980. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, "camping" in the north woods and singing with the Sweet Adelines. She was predeceased by her parents, daughter, Lori, and sisters Betty Parish, Claire McDonnell, and Donna Rogers.
