LONGTIME COUNTY RESIDENT DIES SUDDENLY
Funeral services for Mrs. George E. Milledge, 68, lifelong resident of Montgomery County, except for 5 years were held this Monday afternoon at the Perryman Chapel.
Mrs. Milledge who suffered a paralytic stroke Friday morning, died at the hospital at 5:20 a.m. Saturday.
The Rev. Charles A. Speech conducted the service's with music by Mrs. R. E. Stevens, soloist and Miss Mabelle Reimers, organist. Honorary pall bearers wee J. D. Baird, O. F. Hallcock, E. W. Sederburg, Sam Swanson, Emery DeWitt, and Roy Means and active bearers were Roy Barr, Lloyd Barr, Floyd Barr, Russell Barr, Marion Spicer, Charles W. Lathrop. Floral committee included Mrs. T. K. Cowley, Mrs. Will Ogden, and Mrs. Clarence Barnes.
Burial was made in Evergreen Cemetery.
The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William H. (Jane Elizabeth Martin) Barr, Miss Minerva Ann Barr was born, June 19, 1875 in Pilot Grove Township. She was married September 6, 1894 at her hoer home to George E. Milledge and continued to live in the same vicinity until 1917 when the Milledges' moved to Boulder, Colorado in 1922, they returned to Iowa, residing in Villisca until 1935. Since then they lived in Red Oak.
She is survived by her husband, one son, R. Hugh Milledge, Red Oak; three daughters, Mrs. Edith Johnson of Longmont, Colorado, Miss Grace Milledge of Kenosha, Washington, and Mrs. Mary Machand of Alamosa, Colorado. 7 grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Grace Barker of Mt. Vernon, Iowa and one brother, Carl Barr of Red Oak. A daughter, Mrs. Marie Beaker, preceded her in death in 1936.
Mrs. Milledge was a member of the Presbyterian Church.
