Vern Alston was born June 4, 1913 in Savanna, Illinois and was the son of Jesse Blaine and Lois V. (Grayless) Anderson. He was a World War II U.S. Army Veteran. Vern married Edna Doran on December 10, 1951 in Savanna. Vern had three children: Vern Anderson Jr., Sharon (Anderson) Raab, and another son who receded him in death. Before retiring in 1977 he was employed by Elkay Manufacturing Company in Lanark. Vern died June 12, 1993; he was cremated and buried in Evergreen Cemetery.
