Death of Mrs. James McCormick
The body of Mrs. James McCormick was brought to Indianapolis last evening for interment, the burial services to be held at the residence of her son, corner of Mississippi and St. Clair streets. Deceased was the widow of James McCormick, who with two brothers were the first settlers on the site of Indianapolis, having arrived here February 26, 1820. Mrs McCormick was the first woman in these parts, and at her death was nearly 80 years of age. She raised a large family.
