Merriet S. "Bud" Harper, 93, of Evansdale, died Sunday afternoon, March 10, 2013, at his home.

He was born February 7, 1920 in Hunter, MO, the son of Benjamin Franklin and Catherine Elisabeth Roller Harper. He married Genevieve Lagerman in 1940 in Salina, KS and they were later divorced. He then married Dorothy Purinton on March 5, 1949 and they were later divorced. He then married Edith Johnson on June 4, 1994 in Cedar Falls and they were later divorced.

Bud was a farmer and worked for the Trainer Company as a gas pipeline installer.

He is survived by 6 sons, Larry (Ruby) Harper of Huron, SD, James "Jim" (Mary) Harper of Traer, Chester (Becky) Harper of Evansdale, David (Judy) Harper of St Cloud, MN, William "Bill" (Connie) Mettlin of Waterloo, Robert "Bob" (Jane) Mettlin of Waterloo; 3 daughters, Susan McBride of Waterloo, Carolyn Kientoff of Des Moines, Kitty (Chester) Anderson, of Winnetoon, NE; 29 grandchildren; 60 Great Grandchildren, and 18 great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Alice and Helen, and Jess Harper; a son, K. Lee Mettlin, and 2 grandsons.

Services will be 1:30 P.M. Wednesday, Mar 13, at NewAldaya Lifescapes Chapel in Cedar Falls with burial in the Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball, Waterloo, from 4 – 7 P.M. Tuesday and an hour before services at the Chapel.
