Elaine Downey, 65, of Turners Station, KY passed away at Carroll County Hospital on Monday evening. Elaine was born on February 3, 1948 in Shelby County at the Shelbyville Hospital to the late Robert Jones, Sr. and Mary Catherine Brown Jones.
Elaine lived in Turners Station, Kentucky with her husband, Floyd Thomas Downey whom passed away in 2001. She was a member of English Christian Church where she became a member in 1998. Elaine loved being with her family and friends. She loved to farm with her husband and also garden. She was always taking care of people. If Elaine heard someone needed something, she immediately was thinking how she could help. She worked as a cook at many of the area restaurants; her last place was Doll's where she relished watching people enjoy her food. This love of cooking carried over when she went home to cook for her family and friends. Elaine's favorite thing to cook was to bake a pie for you. If she found out your favorite pie, it would end up at your house somehow as a surprise.
Elaine leaves to mourn her passing her son: Paul Keith Downey and his wife Carol and Daughter: Regina Michelle Miskell and her husband Delbert both of Turners Station, KY; her grandchildren: Bradley Scott Lyons, Megan Nicole Lyons, Joshua Todd Lyons, Brian Keith Downey, Blake Xavier Downey, Austin Tyler Downey, Stephanie Erin Miskell, Tanner Cole Miskell; 3 great-grandchildren: Serenity Lynn Lyons, Embry Denise Lyons, Kylan Keith Downey; and two brothers: Robert "Bobby" Jones, Jr of Drennon, KY and Donald Ray Jones of Carrollton, KY.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Floyd Thomas Downey and Daughter: Marilyn Denise Downey Moore.
Memorial bequests may be made to the English Christian Church; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm on Thursday, March 14, 2013 at Ransdell Funeral Home 7101 Campbellsburg Road Campbellsburg Kentucky 40011. The service will be at 1:00 pm on Thursday, March 14, 2013 at Ransdell Funeral Home 7101 Campbellsburg Road Campbellsburg Kentucky 40011. Reverend Keith Miller will officiate the service. Burial will be at Port Royal Cemetery Port Royal Kentucky.
