Funeral services for John Stratford Latimer, 86, of Waite Hill, will be 10 a.m. Saturday, March 16, 2013, at Chapel of the Divine Word in Kirtland.

Visitation will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday prior to the church service with a reception to be held immediately afterward.

Burial will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 16, 2013, at Waite Hill Cemetery. Mr. Latimer passed away Saturday, March 9, 2013. John Stratford Latimer was born March 14, 1926, in Cleveland.

He graduated from Sewanee Military Academy and continued on to Washington and Lee University. John was married to Eileen McGinley April 23, 1955. They were married 57 years. John was the owner of Lease Center Corporation. He enjoyed golf and his family. He was also actively involved in the Rotary Club. John was a member of the U.S. Merchant Marines during World War II and a member of the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

John is survived by his wife, Eileen McGinley Latimer of Waite Hill; children, John Latimer Jr., of Waite Hill, Mary (John) Schultz of Cedarburg, Wis., Eileen (Bradley) Wallace of Lakewood, Lawrence (Jennifer) Latimer of Hinsdale, Ill; sister, Graham Latimer Grund of Gates Mills, Erwin D. Latimer III of Lookout Mountain, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren, Lawrence Bradley Wallace, Trevor Latimer Wallace, Emily Eileen Wallace, Kathryn Graham Latimer, Mary Elizabeth Wallace, Austin Michael Schultz, Patrick Ferron Latimer, John (Jack) Kavanagh Latimer, Megan Eileen Schultz, Kaitlyn Marie Schultz, Bryn Francesca Latimer; and one great-grandchild, John Crew Wallace.

John was preceded in death by his father, Erwin David Latimer Jr.; mother, Celia Stratford Latimer; and sister, Celia Latimer Ochs.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to The Salvation Army, John's favorite organization. Funeral arrangements are being handled by McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Homes in Willoughby and Mentor.
