Myra Kaye Johnson, 65, of Newton, AL passed away on Monday, December 31, 2012 at her residence following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be 11am Thursday, January 3, 2013 at Newton Baptist Church with Brother Benji Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends from 10-11 am on Thursday at the church. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Newton Baptist Church, P.O. Box 97, Newton, AL 36352.

Kaye was born on August 7, 1947 in Enterprise, Alabama, and she lived most of her life in Newton. She graduated from Dale County High School in 1965. Kaye lived in east Texas from the early 1970's until 1985 and was employed at Ft. Rucker as a telephone operator, the Town of Newton as the Town Clerk and Magistrate, and with the Town of Midland City as the Town Clerk. She enjoyed cross stitching, collecting elephants, and playing Scrabble. Kaye was preceded in death by her father Herman Williams.
