Suffered Fractured Skull When He Fell Down Stairway At His Home–
Funeral Monday Morning
Injuries suffered in a fall down a flight of stairs in his home early Saturday morning, caused the death of Samuel Joseph Kuhn, 201 East Chestnut street, who passed away this morning at 6.42 o’clock in the Hanover General hospital, where he had been taken in the ambulance immediately following the accident. He was aged 61 years.
Mr. Kuhn had retired early Friday evening. About 2.20 a. m. he arose to go downstairs for medicine for Mrs. Kuhn, who complained of feeling ill. In reaching for the light switch Mr. Kuhn lost his balance and fell the entire length of the stairway to the first floor. His skull was fractured in the fall. County Coroner L. U. Zech, who was notified issued the death certificate.
Mr. Kuhn was a son of the late Samuel and Emma McKinney Kuhn, and was born February 12, 1877. He had been employed in the Long Furniture factory, and was a member of the McSherrystown Fire Company. Surviving him are his wife, who before marriage was Alice Small; eleven children, Faber Kuhn, Clark Kuhn and Mrs. Raymond Huff, Hanover; Mrs. James Rang, Littlestown; Miss Pearl Kuhn, at home; Mrs. James Ryan, Hanover; Lawrence, Kenneth, Edward, Musetta and Thelma Kuhn, at home; twelve grandchildren, and two brothers, Claude Kuhn, Mt. Rock and Frank Kuhn, Hanover.
The funeral will be held Monday morning with services conducted at 9 o’clock in St. Joseph’s Catholic church, Baltimore street. The rector, the Very Rev. James A. Huber, will officiate. Burial will be made in St. Mary’s cemetery, McSherrystown. Friends may call at the home from Saturday noon until the time of the funeral.
