Mr. Dawson was born May 18, 1917, in Streator to John E. and Clara (Leach) Dawson. He married Gertrude Sullivan on July 13, 1940, in Davenport, Iowa. He lived all of his life in Streator and was employed for Owens Illinois Glass Company for 38 years prior to his retirement in 1979. He later was employed by Bradley Auction Service.
He was a veteran of World War II serving in the South Pacific and a life member of Streator VFW Post 1492, a member of Quarter Century CLub of Owens and a former board member of Streator Unlimited and the Streatorland Food Pantry.
He is survived by his wife; three sons, Richard E. of Streator, CMC Edward A. of the U.S. Navy in Seattle, WA; and Dr. William C. of Houston, TX; a daughter Mrs. Clara Lou Brunner of Sycamore; and a sister, Mrs. Andrew (Margaret) Juricek of Streator. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Janice; a son, Robert; and two brothers, John and Joseph.
