Rupert- Doyle Rex Garrett,70, of Rupert passed away on Friday Mach 8, 2013 at the Minidoka Memorial Hospital in Rupert. Rex was born June 7, 1942 in Rupert, Idaho to Lucy Ethel Packer and Samuel R. Garrett.
Rex served in the US Navy from 1960-1963. After being discharged from the Navy Rex went to work for the Burley Flower Mill from 1963 to 1966. Rex went to work for Boise Cascade from 1969 to 2002. At which time Rex retired from Boise Cascade. In 1970 Rex married the love of his life Sunnie Wickel.
Rex was preceded in death by his mother and father, Melani Garrett and Troy Amen.
Rex is survived by his wife Sunnie, loving care taker Carol Hopkins, three brothers Ken, Sam and Ed Garrett, children Kim (Becky) Garrett, Daron (Lisa) Bean, step daughter Marva (Gaylen) Osterhout Grandchildren Dana Osterhout, Nicole Jones, Kaydee, Garret and Shelby Garrett, Jacie Bean, TC and Jennie Amen, Great-Grandchildren Hunter, Quinton and Savana Osterhout, Jordan and McKenzie Jones, Ruby Garrett
Rex's family will receive visitors at the Morrison Funeral Home on Tuesday March 12, 2013 from 6-8 PM. A Graveside Service will take place at the Declo Cemetery on Wednesday March 13, 2013 at 2 PM. Military honors will be provided by the Mini Cassia Veterans.
