Richard W. Vassar, 80, entered into rest on February 22, 2013 in Modesto, California. He was born on October 25 1932 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Clyde Vassar and Sarah Burris; his children, Valerie Vassar and Clyde Vassar; and his siblings, Florence Gier, Dorothy Hendrixson, Clyde Vassar, Geraldine Marsden, Bill Vassar, and Jean Clark.

Richard will be missed by his loving children, Earlean Plumbley of Modesto and Jamie Garlock of Modesto; his grandchildren, Elizabeth Plumley of Ft. Walton, Florida, Valerie Nicole Garlock of Modesto, and Rebecca Plumley of Los Banos. Richard also leaves behind his four great-grandchildren. He will be deeply missed.

Richard will be remembered for his kindness and generosity, as he opened his heart to many. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force and retired as an electronic technician.

He passed away peacefully in his sleep surrounded by his family and loved ones. Richard will never be forgotten.

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at Westside Christian Center 130 Fifth Street, Gustine, California.

A Graveside Service will be held on the same day at 1:30 P.M. at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, 32053 West McCabe Road in Santa Nella.
