Virginia was born on May 25, 1922 in Visite, OK and passed away on September 4, 2012 in Merced, CA at the age of 90.
She came west to California during the depression and married Hubert Boland in 1938 in Modesto, CA. In 1955 the family moved to Snelling, CA where they owned and operated a family grocery store for many years.
Virginia was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. As a homemaker she raised 4 boys, but still found the time to teach a Sunday school class, be a member of the Novara Rebekah Lodge #61, and the Snelling Women's Club. She also volunteered for many church and community charitable functions.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Hubert Boland and son, Tom Boland.
She is survived by her sons, Charles (Nancy) Boland of West Linn, OR, Don (Kathy) Boland and Robin (Julie) Boland both of Snelling, CA; grandchildren, Erica, Jeremy, and Tiffany Boland all of Snelling, CA, Justin (Amanda) Boland of San Francisco, Karen Boland (Richard) of Sacramento, Brandi (Mark) Keyes of Mariposa, and Alyssa Boland of Ozark, AK; 10 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; and sisters, Maxine Langley and Eileene Young both of Modesto, CA.
Virginia was the matriarch of the extended family and will be deeply missed.
Per Virginia's wishes private services will be held at Snelling Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Thomas A. Boland Memorial Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 128, Snelling, CA 95369.
Arrangements are under the direction of Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home.
