Shirley A. Fox, age 67, succumbed to a long, arduous battle with ovarian cancer which she fought with determination and courage. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. EDT Friday, at Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home, Riggins Road Chapel (850-877-8191). An inurnment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd., Tallahassee, FL 32308. Shirley was a native of Boston, Mass. and a longtime resident of Tallahassee, having moved from Washington, D.C. in 1972. Shirley received her B.A. in Social Work from FSU in 1974, and graduate study at FSU in 1975. She was formerly the Chief of the Bureau of Aquatic Weed Control, FDNR, and retired as an Analyst, Dept. of Labor and Agency for Workforce Innovation in June, 2003. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Stephen J. Fox; son, Michael W. Fox; daughter, Lisa M. Sherry; two grandsons, Michael Fox II and Franklin Sherry; mother in law, Mary Fox; sister in law, Susan Fox, all of Tallahassee; four sisters, Marty Tatro, of Florida, Alice Kooken, Dottie Griffin both of Ma., Betty Emerson of Ma.; and a brother, David Spiers of Mass.
