Detached service as cattle guard from February to June, 1862.
Wounded at Cedar Mountain--bayonet thrust to left breast. Wounded at Antietam.
Severely wounded at Chancellorsville--gunshot right temple. Injured Chancellorsville--back stepped on by Colonel Colgrove's horse on field where Stimson lay.
Admitted to 12th Corps General Field Hospital in Acquia Creek, Virginia.
Admitted to Soldiers Home in Indianapolis, Indiana. Returned to regiment August, 1863.
Detached service as General Ruger's Orderly at brigade HQ from September 24, 1863, to August, 1864.
Injured at Atlanta in August, 1864--while serving as an orderly carrying a dispatch, horse tumbled & fell, threw him over head, ruptured by saddle horn.
Mustered out of the 27th on September 1, 1864.
Later service with 43rd Indiana Infantry. Mustered out June 14, 1865.
