In 1951 Maurice played for the 3-Move World Champion Title in a 40 game match against then World Champion, Walter Hellman. Hellman retained the title by a score of 6-Wins, 1-Loss and 29-Games Drawn.

In 1957 Maurice played in his last checker tournament, which he won, The Alabama State Checker Tournament
