Debi is survived by her son, Brian, her daughter, Wendy, her parents Lynn and Peggy Preston, her brothers, Steve and Wayne, her sister, Diane and many other nieces and nephews. Debi was a daughter, mother, best friend, teacher, and a sailor of tall ships. She graduated from Sharpstown High School with her teen years filled with dancing classes and performances of both ballet and tap. While her children were young she graduated from The University of Houston with her Master's Degree in History and went on to fulfill her dream of becoming a teacher. She made history come alive for her students at Thompson Intermediate in Pasadena. Memorial Services celebrating Debi's life will be held on Wednesday, February 9, 2005 at 1:00 PM in The Chapel of Jack Rowe Funeral Home, 1625 East Main, League City, Texas. Debi's family will be planning a wake service at a later date aboard The Elissa at The Texas Seaport Museum in Galveston. She will be remembered for many things, her parents will remember her for her determined optimism and her unselfish heart. Debi's passion was the Elissa. She was able to sail that tall ship like a pirate; she always said she was a pirate reincarnated. She was the one who cared for everyone else and wanted happiness for all she loved. We will all miss you and love you forever sailor. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made in Debi's name to The Elissa at the Texas Seaport Museum in Galveston.
