Glenn J. Tanner Sr., 73, of Stroudsburg, passed away Thursday, Feb. 9, at Pocono Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of the late Harriet L. Tanner, who passed away in 2002.

Born on Nov. 9, 1932, in East Stroudsburg, he was the son of the late John F. and Grace Predmore Tanner.

He was a United States Army veteran serving in Korea and he was a POW.

He was employed as a molder by the former Pocono Foundry until it closed in 1985. He was then employed as a security guard for Wells Fargo for seven years.

He was a lifetime resident of Monroe County and was a member of the National Rifle Association

Surviving are daughters Ruhamah Merring of Carbondale and Sandra Jones of Stroudsburg; six sons, Richard Tanner of Tannersville, Michael Tanner of Stroudsburg, Robert Tanner Sr. of Scranton, Timothy Tanner Sr. of Stroudsburg, Glenn Tanner Jr. of Saylorsburg and Luke Tanner of Blossburg; 28 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; many great-great-grandchildren; sisters Carol Halstead of Pocono Summit and Frances Johnson of Allentown; brothers John Tanner Sr. of East Stroudsburg and Edward Tanner of Stroudsburg.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Luke W. Tanner.
