Laura Leona Griffith 93 , formally of Mexico,passed away Saturday March 9, 2013 at Golden Oaks Assisted Living in Marshall Mo.

Funeral services will be at 2p.m. Thursday March 14 at Pickerling Funeral Home with Rev. Glenn Foreman officiating. Visitation will be from 12 noon to 2p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Eastlawn Memorial Park.

Laura was born February 19, 1920 in Blaine County OK. to William P. and Edna Williams Mackey. On July 9, 1938 she married Marvin E. Griffith in Oklahoma and he brought her back to Missouri to reside. He preceded her in death on February 17, 1994.

Laura had lived in Mexico since 1938. She worked at Florshem Shoe Factory in Mexico for 26 years. She was a woman of great faith. She was a charter membe of Friendship Baptist Church and was honored in November 2005 after served 55 years as a Sunday School Teacher for preschoolers at Friendship Church. Se enjoyed her flowers and garden and loved her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

The second oldest of 10 children, she was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, an infant daughter Rose Ellen Griffith; six brothers , Dale, Floyd, Raymond, Noah, Lawrence, and Alfred Mackey and two sisters, Amanda Ruth Mackey and Dortha Waymack.

Survivors include one daughter, Rodella Inez Young of Sweet Springs Mo. five grandchildren, Regina(Jim(Cooper of Blue Springs Mo. Gaylen (Dawn) Davenport of Lenexa Kan. Renita Doyle of Jefferson City Mo. Roger (Carrie)Davenport pf Lee's Summit, and Ryan Davenport of New Yoek N,Y. seven great grandchildren, Douglas(Mary)Coope of Blue Springs, Kevin Cooper of Kansas Cit, Brette, Jack and Jace Davenprt of Lenexa Kan.ad Riley and Emma Davenport of Lee's Summit Mo.and two great great grandchildren, Callie Cooper of Kansas City Mo. and Grant Cooper of Blue Springs Mo. one broher, Wayne (Nellie)Mackey of Mexico and many nieces and nephews ad a host of friends plus her faithful furry companion "Toby"

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Gaylen Davenport, Roger Davenport, Ryan Davenport and Jim Cooper and great grandsons Douglas Cooper and Kevin Cooper.
